Department of Forensic Science
The Department of Forensic Science is the cornerstone of NFSU Uganda's academic mission. We provide comprehensive training in the scientific investigation of crime, equipping students with the knowledge and practical skills needed to serve in forensic laboratories, law enforcement agencies, and the justice system.
Areas of Study
- Crime Scene Investigation (CSI): Evidence collection, documentation, chain of custody, and courtroom presentation
- Forensic Biology & DNA: Biological evidence analysis, DNA profiling, serology, and wildlife forensics
- Forensic Chemistry: Analysis of narcotics, poisons, explosives, and trace evidence using analytical instruments
- Toxicology: Detection and identification of toxic substances in biological samples
- Questioned Documents: Handwriting analysis, document authentication, and forgery detection
- Fingerprint Analysis: Latent print development, AFIS systems, and pattern matching
- Forensic Psychology: Criminal profiling, witness psychology, and behavioral evidence analysis
Laboratory Facilities
Students have access to fully equipped forensic laboratories for practical training, including mock crime scene rooms, chemistry analysis stations, and digital imaging systems.
