Research Focus Areas
- Forensic Biology & DNA: Population genetics studies, wildlife forensics, and forensic entomology in tropical environments
- Toxicology: Analysis of locally prevalent toxic substances, environmental toxicology, and poison detection
- Cybercrime Patterns: Studies on mobile money fraud, social engineering attacks, and online extremism in East Africa
- Digital Evidence: Development of forensic tools and methods for evidence extraction from affordable mobile devices common in the region
- Security Policy: Analysis of border security challenges, transnational crime networks, and counter-terrorism strategies on the continent
Collaborative Research
NFSU Uganda maintains active research partnerships with NFSU India's research centres, enabling joint projects, faculty exchanges, and publication in peer-reviewed international journals.
Student Research
All Masters' students complete a research dissertation as part of their degree. Students are encouraged to take on projects that have real-world applicability to forensic and security challenges in Uganda and the region.
